Cappoquin’s Spooktacular event was in fact the most SPECTACULAR event of the season.  The ‘Roaring Twenties’ and the ‘Swinging Sixties’ made a fabulous come back with gangsters and their molls, flappers and pink ladies making an appearance to a fantastically vamped up Boathouse.

The Boathouse became a multi-cultural meeting place with Egyptians, Romans, Greeks & Spaniards all taking time out to pop in for a spot of dancing.  The usual clientele for this time of year of Vampires, Draculas, Witches, She-Devils and ghosts all dusted of their best clothes and made a huge effort getting dressed up for the party of the year.  The clergy, nuns and other religious persons were strutting their stuff with the rest of us and a couple of superheros swung by to see what was going down.

It has to be said that the Cappoquin Community did themselves proud.  The town was a hive of activity from early in the evening.  The costumes were wonderful showing that imagination and a lot of thought (and in some cases) a lot of work went into each one.  Congratulations to the winners who were the group from the Wizard of Oz.  This particular group had a set of costumes which could have been taken from the film set and which were entirely home made.  I see a new career opening up for their costume designer.  Well done to all concerned and we hope you enjoyed your prize.  Jacinta Uniacke was the winner of the door prize and there were also a number of winners for our raffle.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank:

  • All of our sponsors
  • The ‘Interior Design Team’ who spent hours on Saturday transforming the Boathouse.
  • DJ Damien for his wonderful choice of music
  • The Boathouse Committee who provided us with their club house
  • Last but not least all who attended and made the occasion the success it was.

The only question that remains to be asked now is “who will you be next year?”
